What belongs on an anonymous apartment request board?

Share enough housing requirements for operators to assess a request while keeping identity, contact details and private schedules out of public posts.

MIMO field notes · Operator practice · · MIMO editorial team

A public housing request board should describe a need, not expose the person behind it. Operators can often assess basic fit from location, dates, bedrooms, furnished preference and a broad budget without seeing private documents.

Publish the minimum useful request

Use a general location and stay window, the required home type and any practical constraints that are appropriate to disclose. A corporate request can show the number of units and intended duration without naming employees or publishing their assigned addresses.

Avoid contact emails, telephone numbers, identity documents, employer records, exact daily schedules and access details. If a request contains sensitive circumstances, prepare a public summary separately from the private inquiry record.

Review before publication

Consent to contact MIMO is not automatically consent to publish a request. Use a distinct review and approval process for the public summary. Keep the original private record separate and record who authorized the summary.

Do not seed the board with invented demand to make it appear active. An empty board is more honest than fabricated renters, budgets or project volumes. Test submissions should remain test records and never become public leads.

Manage the response path

Let an operator indicate a relevant option through the appropriate contact process. Review the response and confirm what can be shared before connecting the parties. A provider’s response does not establish available accommodation or approve a renter’s application.

Remove or update requests when their dates pass or the person asks for a change. Keep a retention process for the underlying private record that follows the organization’s actual policy.

The board’s value is a clear, current signal of housing needs. Public exposure should be limited to what helps assess those needs. Private coordination can carry the remaining information once the relevant parties, purpose and contact path have been confirmed.
